Windmill Studios
The long term ambition of SEND has been to bring our services back to the community in which it all began. The wheels are now very much in motion for our Windmill Studios project.
Windmill Studios will be a Multimedia, Arts and Music centre in Sneinton Hermitage. We plan to convert the old police station in Hermitage Square and turn this disused building into a range of Studio and Arts rooms to be used by the local community for FREE!
During the day the building will be used for school and college referrals, mostly for young people out of main stream education. Evenings and weekends will be available for FREE bookings by the local community on a first come first served basis.
Users of the facility will be able to get hands on experience of Music technology equipment as well as gaining professional knowledge and advice from tutors that are all active in the Music industry. There will also be the opportunity to display local artists work and for people simply looking for a place to do IT work or browse the net we will have an IT suite.
Something we want to focus on greatly is family learning.
“The Government White Paper Excellence in Schools, recognised the value of family learning as a strategy not only for raising standards in schools but also for widening participation in learning, promoting social inclusion, renewing neighbourhoods and creating a culture of learning in an area.”

Our aim is to spark creativity and community cohesion through the use of Arts, Music and Multimedia. The response so far has been extremely positive and we strongly believe that this project can drastically change the aspirations of the Sneinton area.
