SEND summer transition project

We would like to give a massive thanks to all staff, volunteers and everybody who helped SEND in the development and delivery of a 6 week summer project for a group of young people from St Stephens C of E primary school in Sneinton.

During June and July a group of yr 6 children who were moving from primary to secondary school spent their summer weeks with the SEND team at the greenway centre taking part in a series of AQA accredited courses in Music technology, T-shirt print design and CD cover design. We also held group mentoring sessions during the weeks to help with bullying, any anticipations, fears and preconceptions of moving up to ‘big school’.

The transition group was marvellous and worked very hard throughout the 6 weeks!! After a (short) 2 day reunion during half term to do some painting and/or write some music, the group has settled very well into Greenwood Dale School in Sneinton, and we look forward to seeing them again in the future and to next year’s project!!

The course is free for all and open to all skill levels!! Please feel free to come in on Monday between 3:30 and 4:30 to join and have a chat.
